My name is Joe Schilling, some of you who've been around since the early days of the BBS services might remember me from the Tracker Online Community as the Deer Runner.

 

No, we are NOT going to be discussing how I acquired the nick name!

At any rate, for a multitude of reasons I became utterly disenchanted with the 'survival' and 'outdoors' type knives being distributed among the main stream retailers. They were way too gimmicky and seemed to lack authenticity. It was a lot like the whole image manufacturers were trying to communicate was that you'd die without their product. 

But if you remember your history, the human race has managed pretty well for most of the six or seven million years that we've been on this planet, and most of that was with nothing more than stone knives.

I figured it was time to take primitive living skills back to their roots, and that's when Deer Runner Knife works was began.

These days ... with the inspiration of my wife Kristi, and the bunch of wood rats and desert dwellers (take THAT guys!) who call themselves Trackers I turn out knives that are at least the equal of any manufactured knife, anywhere on the planet. The only real condition for that to happen?

Your skills have to be up to what the knife is capable of ....

So now the only question is ... are you up to the challenge?
